about favorite things

Though there are an abundance of negative subjects to dwell on in this day and age, I created this blog to bring attention and gratitude back to the great things in life . It is my goal to generate a community of voices who share their joys and, in doing so, bring joy to others. It is a forum,  and it is my wish that in sharing my most treasured items with you, you will respond through comments, emails, wall posts, etc. and divulge your valued artifacts. If you wish to post a "favorite thing," send me a detailed description of it (what it is, why you love it, where to find it, how to make it, etc.) a picture (if you like), and whether or not you wish to remain anonymous.

Living the Good Life
An inspiring book about the Nearings, a 50 year old couple who, with no former knowledge or experience, crafted several of their own environmentally friendly dwellings, and planted their own food year round. The book is a detailed account of the triumphs and missteps of their process. Years ahead of their time (during the great depression), many thought they were crazy and they were ridiculed and at times even isolated from their communities, they pursued a fulfilling existence, living off their land and enjoying the freedom of separation from the mainstream economy and lifestyle.
The Power of Intention
Written by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, this book is a wonderful tutorial on how to manifest your life and connect with intention by applying the seven faces of it; creativity, kindness, love, beauty, ever-expansiveness, abundance, and receptivity.
